The Cavanbah sports field is the landing site for Byron Bay hospital until a permanent helipad is commissioned. Helicopter is to land on the road, on the outer edges of the General Field (South or South-East of the precinct) straddling it for stretcher access. This is to protect the field and prevent the ambulance from driving on the grounds. The ambulance should park in the carpark. This would see the stretcher wheeled to the aircraft only a short distance on what is hard surface.
