About OzRunways

Starting from a small team of developers based in Adelaide just over 10 years ago, OzRunways has grown to become the market leading Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) in Australia and New Zealand and a trusted EFB in regions such as South Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Most recognised for our native mobile apps OzRunways (iOS) and RWY (Android). OzRunways provides pilots with everything they need to fly safely and legally, including route planning, performance calculations, weather briefing and access to maps and information in-flight. OzRunways also develops and operates data processing, server systems and web apps to support the apps.

The aviation sector is a dynamic and exciting industry which requires the ability to adapt to change quickly. OzRunways fosters a culture of creativity, autonomy and flexibility enabling the business to adapt to the constantly changing environment which is aviation.

We are looking to expand our team with a software developer to work on our native iOS apps.

Originally developed in Obj-C, all new work is in Swift. Performance and efficiency is a big focus in our apps, as well as intuitive, ergonomic design so pilots can get what they need out of the apps in flight with minimal effort. This makes for an interesting and unique opportunity for developers to do something different from business or promotional apps!

Working under the direction of the Senior iOS Developer in the Prospect office your work will be used daily by thousands of pilots to make their jobs easier and more enjoyable.

OzRunways is a different kind of company. We're not a company with an engineering department that's seen as an expense. Engineering comes first and the sales follow; we truly believe your work is what makes our company valuable. Most of us are pilots too, so we simply end up making a product we want to (and do!) use all the time and invariably we've found it's just what our customers want too.

OzRunways is not a startup. OzRunways was bootstrapped by the hard work of the founders and has been profitable from the day we launched our product over 10 years ago. We've never taken venture capital, we just keep making products people want and the revenue always seems to follow, creating a sustainable company you can be part of for many years.

OzRunways is never finished. The Electronic Flight Bag business is a competitive one. Although the app already does most of what most pilots could ever want it to do and we are the clear market leader, we can't sit back and relax. There are always pilots retiring and new pilots starting and so the app is always changing; not just with new features, but also new design and improved user experience to make sure those new pilots keep choosing our product over others. We've become ruthless at simply throwing away legacy code and re-inventing the functionality from scratch to make it better for our engineers and customers alike.
